Yona Youth Choir

YONA, Hebrew for ‘dove’ and well known as the symbol of peace, is the Chai Children’s Song Theatre group. It is under the choir direction of Lina Streltsov, with piano accompanist Tatyana Smolyaninov.

Yona is a group of children ages 7-14 who have performed at a variety of community events such as a Yom H’atzmaut, Yom H’Shoah ceremonies, Chanukah, Purim community events, Limmud, JNF Negev Gala, performances at synagogue and the provincial Music Festival. Yona includes children of newcomer families as well as Canadian-born children. The repertoire includes mostly Israeli-Hebrew songs which provides a strong musical education to learn and keep Jewish traditions.New students are welcome to audition for Yona.
